Lead them right

Devotion by: Faith Nwabuisi

“We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.” – Romans 15:1-3

According to, “Christian liberty is the desire and ability to do the will of God for the glory of God:” not to fulfill the desires of the flesh. The Christian that still leave for himself will not see it reasonable to deny some legitimate rights that might weaken or confuse the younger believer. To them, they are at liberty and should not be made to manage themselves, so to say, just to please a brother or a sister, but Christ never lived for himself, rather he set a pattern for us by his examples that we should follow his steps.

Some Christian marriages today are so flamboyant so much that it tempts those who do not have much to go beyond their financial capacity just to make sure theirs look similar, and at the end of their wedding ceremony, they go bankrupt because of the unchecked liberty of one man.

Our life should not become a stumbling block to those that are weak. When we question why such negative liberty should not be expressed, it shows our carnality, self-centeredness and godless mind.

Prayer: Dear Lord, give me the grace to help others by my lifestyle, and let not my good be evil spoken of

Commit to memory:
“But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak.” – 1 Corinthians 8:9
