The Holy Spirit's Help

Devotion by: Faith Nwabuisi

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” – Luke 11:13

The chapter began with Christ praying in a certain place and one of his disciples, after He ceased praying besought him saying, “Lord, teach us to pray like John taught his disciples.”

Prayer is the power house of every true believer because it is the only means of our communication with the Father for strength and grace. Without it we can’t run the Christian race. But to think of it, prayer that is prayed without the help of the Holy Spirit is quite a hard work, but when we have Him, he directs our prayer and let it flow easily.

Above the need to give the disciples a prayer template to follow whenever they want to pray, Christ spoke of the importance of the Holy Spirit which makes prayer dynamic and effortless. This they will receive if they ask. Perhaps you struggle in your prayers because you don’t know what you are supposed to be saying or how to keep the words going. All you need is the Holy Spirit. He will both put prayer in you and pray through you. You need him to really express yourself to the Father and to edify your spirit and body through sweet communion with him. If you ask, you can receive today

Commit to memory:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8
