The motivation from within

What kind of motivation comes from within?

There is a difference between external motivation and the motivation from within. The outer is man made while the inner is God given

Have you encountered a scenario where someone – maybe a motivational speaker gave a speech to some audience and the moment the audience dissembled from that hall or class they forget everything or even if they remember they never practice them? This is what external motivation does. It heats you up when you are under the coverage of the source of motivation and then gradually cools down when you are away. The staying power is not too strong to push or propel the listener to actually start acting in that line because it’s external. Unfortunately, so many seek this kind of motivation. They are constantly looking for someone to motivate them into doing something forgetting that they can easily walk away from that motivation just like those audience would walk out of the hall or class. But if this motivation is coming from within it will be difficult to walk away from it, instead you carry it about

One of the ministries of the Holy Spirit is to cheer up the believer in times when every other thing external is not encouraging. He helps the believer carry on in life and ministry regardless of the current outward situation. Take for instance, Jeremiah, a prophet of Israel whose ministry is to declare the words of the Lord to his people and tell them the mind of Christ, their sins and God’s judgment, could not have been able to continue his ministry when he faced great oppression, persecution, mockery and the rest from the people. He was able to continue despite the harsh persecution because of what he was carrying within – the fire of God. He tried not to speak or warn the people anymore but could not. He confessed,

“Then I said, I will not make mention of him (God), nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.” Jeremiah 20:9 KJV

What he carried within moved him even though if he were given an option he would have quit.

Another example was David. David and his men, upon returning back from Aphek to Ziklag discovered that the land has been attacked by the enemies and burnt with fire, their wives and children had been carried away captive. David and his men wept until the had no more power to weep, in fact the men that was with him thought of stoning him but despite the frustrating situation David found himself – wives and children all gone and now his men are about stoning him – he encouraged himself in the Lord. There was something in him, an inner motivation from the Lord not to give up and so he “enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he (God) answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them , and without fail recover all.” – 1 Samuel 30:8 KJV

Of course David recovered all without exception. He and his men pursued until all that was stolen away from them were restored.

For every child of God to be truly successful in life and ministry in particular, he or she needs this motivation that comes from within which is given by God’s Holy Spirit when he come to indwell the believer’s life. The giver of this kind of motivation helps the carrier always see the brighter side of life and propel or quicken him or her to make the necessary moves. He inspires, motivates, energizes and strengthens them for the great work ahead.

“Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?” Was a question Paul the Apostle asked the believers that were at Ephesus. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is one that no believer should miss. He is sent for the purpose of helping us with all we’ll ever need in this life and it is the will of God for every child of his to have it in it’s full measure not just a measure of it that comes with our salvation

Acts 2:39 KJV
“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Ref.)

You can desire to have it if you’ve not already. You have a better promise today than the old testament believers in the sense that the Holy Spirit will come and live inside of you forever. With him, you will survive every crisis or challenge of life and come out victorious
