What are the steps to achieving true success?

Success is one thing in life everyone want to achieve. It is the dream of every parent for their child, it is the dream of every teen boy or girl and every adult. No one is busy with one job or the other aiming at failure at the end of the day, no one goes to school to study while targeting failure at the end of the term, even animals aim at success in whatever they do whether they are hunting for their food or prey or whether they are walking, running, sleeping, flying, they all hope they succeed. Their only limitation is the lack of wisdom and discernment in them and the spirit of God. They move, act or do whatever do want to do as their instinct move them but as for man (humans) we were the only beings created in the image and likeness of God according to Genesis 1:26 and the general reason why everyone aims at success is because ALL that God created from the beginning was created with the pronouncement of success (see Genesis 1:22,28)

What is the meaning of success by the way?

There are many definitions of the word ‘success’ depending on one’s understanding of it. According to the English Encarta dictionary, success means:
Achievement of intention
Achievement of fame, power, wealth etc. You may have your own definition of success maybe in terms of material acquisitions, financial buoyancy, health wise, goals reached or achieved, etc. All these definitions are right but remember the kind of success I want to show you how to achieve is true success. True success is that success that carries every other ‘successes’ one may be aiming at

The first step to achieving true success

The first step to entering into the success lane is to know God, the giver of success and the source of it.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33

Why is this verse coming in? you may ask. It’s coming in because it is the beginning of your overall success in life. After the fall of man in the garden of Eden, things became hard not just for man but for the whole world. Man lost the presence of God – his Source – and It takes Him back into one’s life to enter the truly successful’s lane. Without Christ success is not complete though one possesses one or two of the success’ definition listed above. This is the first step to take. After this step, the next is, paying the price to achieve success.

Paying the price to achieving true success

Is there a price to pay? Yes there is a price to pay to achieve true success even after you have received Christ into your life. There are some set things that must be done for your success to blossom. They include,

Setting goals – you must set a goal. This enables you know what you are aiming at. Truly successful people have goals. Use the SMART principle for setting your goal

 

Educating yourself – how much do you know about your goal or dream?

 

Self motivation – as John L. Mason rightly said, “the road to success is always under construction”. This mean that if you must achieve success you must not give up because there will be many discouragement, disappointment, but in these challenges you must learn how to encourage yourself like David did in (1Samuel 30:6)

 

Maintaining good health – you must be healthy to be successful. Eat well and eat the right food. See to your general well being

 

Networking – relating with others of like visions as you have and working together with them at times may tremendously boost your overall success, in fact, someone says, ” the value of your network is determine your networth” so you have to meet the right people

 

Perseverance – you must insist until you get there

Above all, you must have a positive mindset. Every other thing will fail if one doesn’t have a positive mindset. You must be successful within before becoming successful without

These are the price to pay to achieve true success. Below are additional helpful tips that will keep you going in trying times

Seek God – Matthew 6:33 KJV
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Familiarize yourself with His word – Joshua 1:8 KJV
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” There are numerous promises concerning your success in life in His word but if you are ignorant of this, the devil will take advantage

Abstain from sin – Job 11:13-14 KJV
If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him; [14] If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.

Trust God and be patient – Psalm 37:3,7 KJV
Trust in the Lord , and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. [7] Rest in the Lord , and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
